INCLUSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE DESIGN

While at Northwestern, I took several independent study courses where I focused on designing for underrepresented demographics by emphasizing a focus on accessible and inclusive design. Inspired by a conversation at the National Design Awards with Bruce Mau, I realized there is a massive whitespace when it came to designing for people with disabilities.
I have always been interested in the intersection between medicine and design. Several years ago, I started to research ways of combining physical therapy with design, with the goal of designing objects for everybody's every day. I saw that there was a disparity in aesthetically pleasing products that help differently-abled people and it inspired me to always consider that demographic. Great design has historically been exclusive in the financial sense but it's also not accessible to people with disabilities. I always aim to create with that notion in mind.
